Our Story
Figuring Out This God Thing shares the stories of really cool people to help you better understand what it means to live life with God. There are many Christian churches, preachers, teachers, sermons, and messages in the world. This can often make the process of separating fact from fiction difficult if not impossible.

So we created a TV series, blog, and podcast of the same name, fileld with practical answers to some of the hardest questions people ask about God. We hope that you will explore our content and enjoy the journey with us.

Our Mission
Our goal is to help you see yourself in the lives of those that we feature and in the stories that are told so that you can make the connection of the relevance of a walk with God in your own life. It's important to us because we have FLOURISHED as a result of building an intimate relationship with him. No matter who you are, who you believe yourself to be or where you are in life, we believe that you'll also have the very same experience if you allow him in.

BUT doing so requires that you have your questions answered right? That you are able to make an informed choice not so? That the myths and legends be dispelled and that the pomp and circumstance be stripped away. Well, that's where we come in. What better way to share truth than through sharing a story...or an example of how it worked for others.

Jen
Founder | Director | Pioneer
Performing artist, writer, director, producer, and all-round Jesus fan, I am a sucker for a good story. When you combine that with my greatest passion, my father in heaven, you get a wide eyed, passionate storyteller who seeks to help people find the same fulfillment that I have found in cultivating a life-long relationship with God.

My journey began at eight years old as a choral singer, followed by several years of classical training in Trinidad & Tobago where I was born and raised. Upon moving to the US in 2001, I joined the Benedict College Concert Choir and continued my performance career is a member for three years. I also took up musical theater, performing in supporting roles in the shows Blossom Time and Ragtime.

In 2010, moved to Milwaukee, WI and became the Director of Theater at Faith Builders Church. I directed a total of twenty-six shows. over the span of four years with casts as small as twelve and as large as one hundred plus. Whew…I am tired just thinking about it. Anyway, it was here that I discovered my passion for telling God’s stories. In some instances, the stories were entirely biblical. In others they were not. But each story illustrated God’s grace, goodness and love for his people. The vision for Parable was born as a result of my time at Faith Builders (I am still a member, just not directing anymore. Fabulous church by the way). And after a two-year stint with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Chorus from 2016 to 2018, I founded Parable Productions, a multi-media company devoted to telling stories that uplift, motivate and challenge. I serve as Parable’s creative and marketing director.
Ivor
Writer | Teacher | Thinker
I am known as the Ivorian. Serious, stoic, no nonsense. Or at least that what that sounds like right. What I really am is a big-hearted London native that was raised in Trinidad and Tobago. I have three passions…God, my family and football – soccer for our American visitors. I am a member of Ealing Christian Centre, in West London, England and have been involved with church, youth, sport and men’s ministry for over thirty years.
So how did I get to London but don’t quite have an English accent? Well I was born in England to Trinidadian parents and spent my early childhood in there before my parents returned Trinidad and Tobago. I remained there long enough to make sure that my wife would marry me and then we returned to England where now reside with our three kids. I thank God every day that she said yes…but I digress.
Over the years, my passion for football ushered me into a semi-professionally career. Because of this I had the opportunity to share the gospel in Russia and Northern Ireland with Athletes in Action a para-church organization.
I consider myself a teacher and have functioned in this area my local assembly, where I am a men’s discipleship group leader, teach the youth, and train emerging discipleship leaders.
Althea
Writer | Teacher | Warrior
Althea Hutchinson is the wife to the sexiest man in the world (not Idris, Brad or Denzel), mother of three beautiful children, and the second of three children. She and her two siblings were born to the most amazing parents this world could have ever produced.
Althea is also the person writing this biography in third person. Why? I don’t know. It just seemed cool to start that way. It probably wasn’t, but that is who I am. I am what many people call unique. That happens when you aren’t easily defined. I am a Christian woman with an affinity for stilettos. Yes, you can be saved and wear stilettos. My parents don’t agree but they love me anyway. Lol. I hope they don’t read this!
I also have an affinity for vampire movies. My husband will actually search them out for me and say I bet you want to watch this. Well, no not if it’s of the horror genre. I don’t do horror. I prefer my vampires romanticized. They can’t be gory and out for human blood and all that. Yep, and I am still saved.
I would talk about my personal relationship with God here, but the beautiful thing is you will experience that through the blogs, podcasts and maybe even through a personal conversation with me. I believe “walking the walk” is more important than “talking the talk”.
I have a great deal of spiritual education, some borne from experience and some from the classroom. Again, I believe you will see this as you journey together with us as we Figure Out this God Thing. We are so glad you are here.
